Paul Finebaum is signing a new contract with ESPN and the SEC Network, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the network has not announced the deal.
Finebaum’s new contract will be officially announced Friday, the person said.
Finebaum’s afternoon radio/television show every weekday has anchored the SEC Network’s programming lineup since it was launched in 2014. Finebaum is also one of ESPN’s premiere voices on the SEC and college football generally on a variety of its platforms.
Finebaum’s previous contract was up at the end of this month, and negotiations had been contentious until recently. Stories had circulated in multiple publications that he was contemplating a move somewhere else, including possibly the Big Ten Network/Fox.
